Nodo Infinito

commissioned by and written for SoloVoices (CH) & Quartetto Maurice (IT) with the support of Sacem and Rainy Days festival in Luxembourg

The piece immerses the performers and the listeners into a hypnotic loop, inspired by the buddhist symbol of "endless knot” - the eternal circle of time and energy where the cause and effect are one and the same.

The two - vocal and string quartets are being melted into an illusionary, two-dimensional, very slowly, gradually changing texture, intertwining their voices into a single sound body fusing their instrumental and singing qualities. Following the "monochrome" technique, the only musical gesture used is a pure sound wave letting strings and voices become as close and as indistinguishable as possible.
